Schaumburg Library Schedules Classes on Google Applications

Learning to use Google applications to create documents, organize photos, or use an online calendar is easy with online classes from the Schaumburg Library. See article for details.

Online classes coming to the Schaumburg Library in June will help participants learn to use Google to create, design, and organize documents, photos and more. The following programs will take place on Zoom. Register at SchaumburgLibrary.org to receive the Zoom link and create a Google account prior to taking any of the classes.

Google Drive will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, June 8. Participants will learn to store, organize and share documents. Google Docs 1 is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 10. In this class, attendees will learn how to create documents, including resumes and letters. In Google Docs Design, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, June 15, adults who have taken Google Docs 1 will discover how to add columns, pictures, signatures, shapes, text boxes and charts in Google Docs. Next up is Google Docs Formatting, scheduled from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, June 17. The instructor will teach attendees how to change margins and orientation; add bullets, tabs, tables and page numbering; change headers and footers; and save as a PDF in Google Docs. In order to take this class, students must have already taken Google Docs 1.

Seniors who want to learn how to organize digital photos from a computer, phone or tablet are invited to register for Senior Google Photos, which will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, June 23. Anyone who could use help organizing his or her life may want to sign up for Google Calendar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 26. In addition to creating a Google account prior to class, participants should bring their Gmail address and password. Having a phone or tablet in class is optional. The final Google class for June is Google Sheets 1, slated from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 29. Instructions will be provided for creating spreadsheets, entering basic formulas and creating basic charts. Prerequisite: Google Docs or Word 1.

The Schaumburg Township District Library and its branches in Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park are open to the public with limited capacity and hours in accordance with COVID guidelines.
