Streamwood Knights Collecting for Veterans
Later this month we celebrate Memorial Day. As the famous song by Billy Ray Cyrus says, "All gave some - some gave all." In honor of those that gave all, and to those that gave some and are struggling, Mary's Millennium Council once again appeals to the community to assist us in helping our homeless veterans.
Leave No Hero Behind
It is sad to say that there are veterans in our midst left behind due to homelessness, joblessness, poverty and/or mental health issues. The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) mission is to "Leave No Hero Behind." This fits nicely with the Knights of Columbus "Leave No Neighbor Behind." Working together we can make a difference in the lives of these veterans.
Donate Today
Visit our dedicated web page, https://kofc12801.square.site/veterans, to make a monetary donation using your credit card or Google Pay. In addition, select household and personal items from the current wish list. Items can be brought to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish, 502 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood IL 60107 through the weekend of May 23, 2021. This will allow us to bring items to the shelter before Memorial Day.
Thank You To Veterans And You For Supporting Them
In conclusion, the MSHV cannot achieve their mission alone, and they have relied on organizations like our council to help. Last November the parish and community graciously responded to our request. This allowed the shelter to provide an additional $100 food gift card to each veteran picking up their wish list items.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our charitable projects. God Bless our Nations Heroes who bravely served our country. As Memorial Day approaches, we also remember those that gave all. For more information see our website: kofc12801.org.
