Chicago-based activewear brand focused on community raising funds through Indiegogo

Pulse Athletic Apparel, a Chicago-based startup, is growing its community in more ways than one.

Launched in July of 2020, the activewear brand is looking to raise its first round of funding through the popular crowdfunding website Indiegogo (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pulse-athletic-apparel--2#/ .) The campaign's goal is $10,000, which is a relatively modest amount for a startup.

Pulse hopes to use the funds to continue their nonprofit partnerships, create new products and styles, offer more inclusive sizing options, and more. The campaign would also ensure Pulse's entire line remains affordable, which is a main driving force for the brand.

"Backing Pulse is backing a brand that drives inclusivity and emphasizes affordability without compromising quality," Pulse Athletic Apparel founder and CEO Karishma Bali said.

The brand is entirely bootstrapped by Bali, a Carol Stream native and Glenbard North High School alumna. Despite the lack of funding, Pulse Athletic Apparel has been able to amass a sizable following - one that it considers to be a community, and sometimes even a family.

"Pulse's mission has always been to build a community of empowered individuals, but we also want to give back to the communities that have empowered us," Bali said. "We hope increased funding pushes us in that direction."
