Schaumburg Library Offers “Know Your Rights” Programs in Spanish

Spanish-speaking residents can learn about health and labor issues during upcoming online programs offered in Spanish from the Schaumburg Library. These "Know Your Rights"programs include "Health and Safety in the Workplace During Covid-19" from 6-7 p.m., Monday, April 12; and "Labor Exploitation and Trafficking" from 6-7 p.m., Monday, April 19. Register at SchaumburgLibrary.org to receive the Zoom link or watch live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/CentroinElgin. The programs are listed in Spanish on the library's website.

In addition to health and safety, participants in the April 12 program will also learn about protections they should be afforded at work, as well as whistleblower protections and legal remedies if they have work-related concerns about health or safety.

In the April 19 program, participants will learn about human trafficking and labor exploitation in several U.S. industries. The program will cover the legal definitions, indicators and risk factors, remedies for people who've been in this situation, and how people can help in their own communities.
