Schaumburg Library Invites Children to Online Adaptive Programs
Children ages three to eight years are welcome to attend online adaptive programs offered by the Schaumburg Library in April and May. These programs are designed for children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing issues or who are differently-abled. All require registration at SchaumburgLibrary.org.
Adaptive Storytime for children ages 3 to 6 years old will take place from 10-10:45 a.m., Saturday, April 10. Children will hear a story and participate in a fun activity using a variety of items. Register to receive the Zoom link and Program Kit, which contains materials to be used in the activity.
Autism Movement Therapy for children ages 3 to 8 years old is scheduled from 5:30-6 p.m., Wednesdays, April 14 and 28. Wanda Lee Farnell, Autism Movement Therapy Certified Provider, will lead this program supporting problem solving, speech, social, gross and fine motor skills through movement activities and a craft. Adaptive Book Explorers for children ages 5 to 8 years old will take place from 5-6 p.m., Thursday, May 6. In this book club, children hear a story read aloud, then discuss it and complete activities. May's selection is "When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree" by Jamie L. B. Deenihan. Register beginning Thursday, April 15 to receive the Zoom link and Program Kit.
