YMCA to Host Community Scavenger Hunt

The North Suburban YMCA will host a Community Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, March 14 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The Scavenger Hunt is part of the "Revive the Y" fundraising efforts; all proceeds from the Y's Scavenger Hunt will benefit the North Suburban YMCA's mission-focused programs.

The Scavenger Hunt begins and ends at the NSYMCA, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook, and each team will be given a map of Northbrook with "teaser" clues to specific locations. Open to the public, this family-friendly event will send teams of up to six to a variety of locations throughout the community to gather the clues.

For example, a clue might be, "I am GREEN with envy that you get to move and play, because I am just stuck here all day." When a team finds the location, a task and another clue will await them in blue YMCA buckets that will be placed around the Northbrook area. There will be a total of 14 locations, many at local businesses that have supported the NSYMCA over the years.

"The teams' task will be to find, ask for, or take pictures or videos of certain landmarks, businesses, or areas of our community," explained North Suburban YMCA CEO Kathy Fielding. "The Scavenger Hunt is designed to offer families a creative way to spend time together, get to know their community, and have fun!"

The first and second-place teams will receive trophies, with other teams eligible to receive prizes. The winning teams will be based on originality. Teams must have their own transportation and travel together, have at least one team member available to go indoors to retrieve clues, and have a smartphone for photos and app usage. Masks are required.

The cost to participate in the Community Scavenger Hunt event is $25 per team. Participants must be registered by March 10, 2021. To register, visit www.nsymca.org/scavengerhunt.
