Library to Hold College Information Programs for High School Students and Parents

Four informative college preparation programs will be available online from the Schaumburg Township District Library in February. High School students and parents are welcome to attend programs targeting college applications, scholarships, applications and costs. Register at SchaumburgLibrary.org to receive the Zoom link for any of the programs described below or watch live streamed at SchaumburgLibrary.tv.

"What Looks Good on College Applications" will take place from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2. Thomas Jaworski of Quest College Consulting will explain which activities look better than others, how scores are evaluated, and the meaning of “holistic application review. Time will also be allotted for a question-answer session.

"All About Scholarships" is scheduled from 7-7:45 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10. In this program, students and parents will learn about the process of applying for scholarships and basics of a scholarship application. They will also receive tips on how to submit a successful application.

"Acing the College Application Process" will take place from 7-7:45 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17. Those who feel the college application process is daunting will get a clear explanation of the process, components, timelines, and tips on personal statements and essays. Financial aid information will also be discussed, and helpful resources will be shared.

"How to Reduce College Costs" will take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25. Students and parents will discover strategies for reducing college costs, improving admission chances and increasing scholarship opportunities. This online program will cover income, asset and borrowing tools not addressed at other college planning seminars.
