North Suburban YMCA Opens 2021 Summer Camp Registration
The North Suburban YMCA 2021 Summer Camp registration is now open, offering an exciting selection of over 40 general and special interest day camps for children in pre-K through junior high school. All camp programs provide a safe, nurturing, and creative environment to support the development of each child.
Following strict guidelines by YMCA of the USA, the American Camp Association, the CDC, and state and local authorities, the Y successfully facilitated its 2020 summer camps without a single case of COVID-19. Emphasis was placed on forming smaller group sizes, keeping kids socially distanced, wearing masks when indoors, and frequent hand-washing.
"As an organization dedicated to youth development, we know how important it is for children to have access to the resources they need to thrive," said Ricky Gonzalez, the director of the NSYMCA Summer Camps. "The Y Day Camps offer a safe, enriching environment where kids can get outdoors, and spend time together while practicing social, emotional, and problem-solving skills."
The Y's summer camps offer fun, active experiences that promote friendships, confidence and curiosity. Campers can take full advantage of the Y's indoor pool, large gyms, outdoor sports fields, and playgrounds. Camps also deliver flexibility and value by offering sessions by the week, camps by the day, and special rates available until May 1, 2021.
New to the Y's Summer Camp 2021 roster include innovative camps for special interests, such as:
• Candy Chemistry
• Expedition Mars
• Jokin' Around
• Movie Makers
• Ozaria Coding Camp
• Field Trip Camps
• Middle School only field trip camp
• Full Day Pathfinders camp for 4-year-olds
• 10-Week Gymnastic Camp
• Swim Lessons
• New C.I.T. Program
The NSYMCA will continue its best practices as it adapts to the latest guidance and recommendations from the CDC and the state. Due to reduced camp sizes to allow for increased social distancing, the Y recommends signing up for camp early. NSYMCA Day Camps begin on June 7, 2021.
