Schaumburg Library Offers 'Pick-up' Programs

Children and teens can register for crafty Schaumburg Township District Library programs that come with all the materials and instructions needed to complete a fun project. Many of the upcoming programs have an autumn or Halloween theme, and the teen pick-up program provides self-care items in addition to craft supplies. The following are just some of the upcoming pick-up programs open for registration. A Zoom link is provided once registration is complete, along with instructions for picking up the program kit.

Children ages 2-5 years old can work with a parent to create a "Handprint Owl" on Monday, Oct. 5, a "Rake and Leaves" craft on Monday, Oct. 12, a "Paper Stripe Pumpkin" on Monday, Oct. 19, and a "Paper Bag Monster" on Monday, Oct. 26. This age group is also welcome to get the "Preschool Halloween Packet" on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Children ages 5-9 years are welcome to register for the "Newsprint Kitty Collage" taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Participants will create a unique portrait of a cat from newsprint and other materials. For kids ages 6-8, a "Hanging Bat" will be the featured craft on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Tweens ages 9-12 can create a "Fall Leaves Woven Picture" on Thursday, Oct. 8, and a "Scrapbook Paper Pumpkin" on Thursday, Oct. 22.

To help teens combat stress from sheltering in place, the library will offer "QuaranTEEN Kits" on Thursday, Oct. 1. Each kit contains calming activities, crafts and self-care items.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom links and program kits. More pick-up programs can be found online at SchaumburgLibrary.org.
