Glen Ellyn's Village Green Baptist Church hosts weekly food drive in May

In May, Village Green Baptist Church, 200 S. Lambert Road in Glen Ellyn, is holding its annual food drive for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Perhaps more than ever, our community needs help fighting food insecurity.

There are two ways for you to safely donate your nonperishable food items:

• Every Saturday through May 30 from 9 to 11 a.m., Village Green will be hosting a "drive through" style food drive. One family unit of volunteers at Village Green will safely collect the food items from your trunk. This is a safe contactless delivery.

• Drop it off directly at the food pantry on a weekday. Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is accepting food donations during its normal business hours (Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon) by its contactless food drop-off table just inside its doors. Alternatively, you may have someone from the food pantry come out and grab the food out of your trunk on Mondays-Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call (630) 469-6988 when you are at the pantry and ready for someone to collect the food from your vehicle.

To participate in the "Drive Thru" Saturday food drive, collect the nonperishable food items you would like donate and place the items in bags or a box in the trunk of your vehicle. Enter the church parking lot through the Lambert Road entrance. Once you reach the side of the building near the gym, you will see a group of volunteers ready to collect your food pantry donation. Please remain in your vehicle and pop your trunk for the volunteers to grab your items for the food drive. Once they have collected your items, please exit the parking lot using the Orchard Road exit.

If interested in volunteering to help out at the food drive or if you have any questions, please contact the church office at life@villagegreenbaptist.org or Jesse, the youth director, at youth@villagegreenbaptist.org.
