Warrenville Boy Scout awarded highest rank in Scouting

Boy Scout Troop 575 has awarded the Eagle rank, Scouting's highest rank, to Jonathan Willcutt of Warrenville. He is the 55th scout from the troop to be awarded this rank. Ceremonies were held Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Compass Church in Wheaton. Nationally, only 5% of Boy Scouts achieve this rank.

Jonathan joined Boy Scout Troop 575 from Cub Scout Pack 68, out of Bower Elementary School in Warrenville. He joined Boy Scout Troop 575 in 2012.

For his Eagle Project, Jonathan led the building of a Carpet Ball table for the Compass Church Student Ministries at their South Naperville campus.

Jonathan is a senior at Wheaton Warrenville South High School and plans to attend LeTourneau University in Texas in 2020 where he will study Materials Joining in their School of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

His gift to the Troop was hand-forged iron dutch oven lid lifters, which he personally made.

Winfield Boy Scout Troop 575 was founded in 1997 and is made up of scouts from throughout Western DuPage County. The troop is known for its commitment to the community, developing the moral character and leadership skills of its members, and producing Scouts with exceptional outdoor skills.
