Elgin Donor Club raises $10,000 for local charities

The Donor Club of Elgin held its annual book review and luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Elgin Country Club with 233 people in attendance.

Proceeds from the luncheon, book review, raffle baskets, and cookie and book sales raised $10,000 for local charities.

The recipients included One Hope United, Community Crisis Center, Hands of Hope, All People's Interfaith Food Pantry, PADS of Elgin, Well Child Center, ECC Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Elgin, and Ecker Center for Mental Health.

The highlight of the afternoon was Jenny Riddle's dramatic book review of Sally Field's memoir "In Pieces." Sally Field was brought to life with Riddle's entertaining and captivating style of storytelling.

Next year's book review will be again held at Elgin Country Club on Sept. 24, 2020 and tickets will go on sale in June.
