Judge John G. Dalton to be honored by Open Door Health Center May 4

The Open Door Health Center of Illinois is pleased to announce that the Honorable Judge John G. Dalton will be honored during the 18th annual All Things Chocolate Gala on Saturday, May 4.

As an ardent community advocate, Judge Dalton has been recognized on local and state levels.

"It is important to recognize the lifetime work of Judge Dalton," said Perry Maier, executive director of Open Door Health Center. "He has been unwavering in his steadfast positive efforts and in his outspokenness on any number of social justice issues."

Until his election as a Circuit Court Judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit, Dalton served as an Elgin Community College trustee representing the citizens of 32 municipalities in five counties. He is deeply involved in the Elgin community. He has served as a deacon, church council member and Bible study facilitator at First Congregational Church in Elgin. He is a recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award, as well as the Illinois State Bar Association's Standing Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity "Community Leadership Award" for his lifetime of civil rights work.

Open Door's "All Things Chocolate Gala" will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Grand Victoria Casino in downtown Elgin.

Tickets are $100.

Proceeds from the event support the mission of Open Door Health Center to provide services for persons living with HIV/AIDs and their family members, persons vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and members of our LGBTQ community.
