Dining out: Restaurants try to ease your Tax Day pain

Expand your palate

Wine and dine from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12, at D.O.C Wine Bar during "An Evening in Lodi" featuring wines by Klinker Brick Winery and food from chef Dan Harris. Pairings include peas carbonara with Albarino 2017, hamachi crudo with Bricks and Roses Rose 2017, Roman gnocchi with Farrah Syrah 2015, and short rib with Old Vine Zinfandel 2015 and Old Ghost Zinfandel 2015. For dessert, dine on berry crostata. It's $75 per person.

Bunny brunch

Time to put on your coziest PJs for Granite City's Pajama Brunch with the Easter Bunny from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13. Nosh on brunch specialties like the Lawless Brunch fruit bar, croissants, muffins, scones, Reggiano hash browns, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, RumChata French toast with syrup and strawberry sauce and a build-your-own doughnut creation station. It's $12.99 for adults and $5.99 for kids.

Easter's not just for kids. Really. Adults can have their own fun at Parkway Bank Park's "Bunny Bar Hop" bar crawl from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Adobe Gila's, Bub City, Five Roses Pub, Hofbräuhaus Chicago, Kings Dining & Entertainment and Park Tavern will be offering drink specials and more for those over 21. Pick up your wristband and punch card at the tent near the main entrance. Participants who get their card punched (with purchase) at all six bars during the four-hour event can be entered to win a Rosemont grand prize. Advance tickets, which are available for $10 at ParkwayBankPark.com, include access to the bar crawl, two ticket vouchers for Zanies Comedy Club and a swag item. Tickets will be available on-site for $15.

Get dolled up in your best Roaring '20s garb for Elgin's Martini Room Speakeasy 2019 Prohibition Party, which returns for a night of libations, spirits, burlesque performances and more. Known as the Blind Pig Extravaganza, the merriment starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, with doors to the speak-easy opening at 7. Enjoy '20s-era music and New Orleans swing from The Fellas, a Roaring '20s costume contest for the Best Giggle Flapper, a Speakeasy 1920s Slang Contest run by "Lil Mickey" Deluca, a themed photo booth, burlesque shows from Hot Tawdry and Vivi Valens and more. It's $15 for a single or $25 per couple.

Hop into the Easter spirit with Hofbräuhaus Chicago's Easter Kinderfest from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 14. The whole family can enjoy a magician, face painting, pinwheel decorating, and meet and greets with the Easter Bunny. Kids' meals are only $5 during the event.
