Be a mentor for Kairos Torch Prison Ministry in St. Charles

Have you felt the calling to mentor a troubled youth in our area?

The Kairos Torch Prison Ministry, which works in the Illinois Youth Center at St. Charles, is designed to introduce young men to Christian concepts as a means of making better choices for their lives.

This is an opportunity for you to follow the example of St. Ignatius who said that you can "See Jesus in the lowly places."

The Illinois Youth Center is absolutely the place where Jesus would be today.

Torch begins with an initial weekend retreat which is led by Torch team members.

The weekend is designed to engage the youth with food, singing, reason and games.

You will gather with folks from churches around the Fox Valley - Pentecostals, Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Congregationalists, Methodists, and Baptists - to serve the youth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This is followed by a weekly one-on-one mentoring program where you will receive the opportunity to stand with these youth and create a meaningful relationship that will impact you and them for life.

The training to become a mentor to incarcerated youth will start Saturday, Feb. 16.
