Learning Express Toys of Glen Ellyn sponsors Toys for Tots event Dec. 1

Learning Express Toys of Glen Ellyn is helping Toys for Tots bring holiday gifts to children in need.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the toy store will be holding a special event from 2 to 4 p.m.

During the event, representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps. will be assisting in loading a trailer with more than $9,000 in toys, to be distributed to children in need during the holidays. As part of the festivities, the Paw Patrol character Marshall will meet and greet children and their family members.

Over the past two months, Learning Express Toys of Glen Ellyn has been collecting monetary donations from customers for Toys for Tots.

For every $1 collected, Learning Express Toys of Glen Ellyn will be donating $2 in toys.

To date, more than 1,500 customers have made monetary donations.

Many customers have also donated toys in the drop-off box at the store.

Store owner Randy Horn believes in the importance of giving back to the community and families in the local area.

"This holiday season, many families in our community would not have any gifts if not for Toys for Tots," Horn said. "Our business is about helping children make memories, and I am grateful to be able to help families in need to provide a happy holiday for their children in a difficult time."
