Wheeling Winery Celebrates 10th Anniversary in Old Prohibition Haunt

Lynfred Winery is pleased to announce the upcoming 10th anniversary of their Wheeling tasting room, located on Milwaukee Avenue.

Lynfred Winery was founded in October of 1979, by Fred and Lynn Koehler; throughout its 39-year history, Lynfred has expanded from its humble beginnings and established a reputable legacy of fine winemaking tradition. Located at 971 North Milwaukee Avenue, near the famous 'restaurant row' in Wheeling, Lynfred offers visitors a unique and exemplary wine tasting experience in a quaint, historic location. The Wheeling winery tasting room is housed in a home constructed in the 1920s, once a hang-out for bootleggers during Prohibition that is now a cozy tasting room and private event space.

In addition to celebrating a milestone anniversary, Lynfred Wheeling is also very excited to announce an array of anniversary celebrations. A celebration doesn't come with out champagne and the winery will be selling their sparkling wines for $20.08, November 15-18, in honor of their 2008 opening (glasses of sparkling wine will also be for sale all weekend).

On November 15th, 5:00-7:00pm, Lynfred invites guests to raise a glass to 10 years of Lynfred wines in Lake County. Lynfred General Manager and Director of Winemaking Andres Basso and Head Winemaker Rodrigo Gonzalez will be on hand signing bottles. Lynfred Winery is the oldest and largest, continuously-operating, family winery in Illinois, producing over 70 varietals and 30,000 cases of fine wine per year. Since 1979 Lynfred Winery has offered guests the finest vintages, gourmet cuisine and luxurious lodging. Lynfred is truly one of Chicago's most unique attractions.
