Culver's and Guests Donate 35,000 Meals to Hungry Children Through Feed My Starving Children Crusade
A campaign launched this spring by nine area Culver's restaurants, including the one in Schaumburg on Wise Rd., to raise funds and collect meals for the charity Feed My Starving Children has thus far exceeded expectations.
Since April, Culver's guests visiting the nine participating locations have donated a staggering 35,000 meals through the encouragement of younger diners forgoing their dessert coupons, using them instead to help feed hungry children living all around the world.
According to General Manager Amy Nelson, Culver's of Schaumburg, located at
1800 Wise Rd., will continue to match every donated Kid's Meal custard coupon in order to help feed children who struggle to receive even just one meal a day.
Each custard coupon that is donated will feed two children a day's worth of meals.
Combined, all donations will go directly to Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a non-profit organization founded in 1987 that has provided more than two billion nutritionally complete meals to children living in more than 60 countries around the world. Each day, hundreds of volunteers visit local FMSC distribution centers in Aurora, Libertyville and Schaumburg to package food for hungry children living in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, North and Central America, and South America.
"We're pleased with the success of this program and remain excited that guests will have an opportunity to support our efforts to feed all of God's children, especially those who struggle for even one meal a day," said Culver's owner Chuck Martin. "It's an opportunity for both our guests and team members to work together to make an impact on the worldwide hunger crises."
Participating Culver's include restaurants in Arlington Heights, Aurora- Rt. 59, Bolingbrook, Crystal Lake, Darien, Mt. Prospect, Rosemont and Schaumburg-Wise Rd.
Feed My Starving Children relies primarily on children and adults of all ages hand-packing nutritious 'MannaPack' meals specifically designed to assist in reversing and preventing undernutrition. Receiving the highest awards for integrity and trustworthiness, FMSC sees more than 90 percent of total donations spent directly on meal production, with each meal costing less than 25 cents.
