Library Invites Adults to Get Creative with Gardens, Ceramics and More
Spots are available for fun and creative workshops coming this autumn to the Schaumburg Township Library and its Hanover Park Branch. Each of the following workshops requires registration and a fee. To register, call (847) 923-3347.
"Fall Container Garden" will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Rasmussen Room on the second floor of the of the Central Library in Schaumburg.
Participants will plant a variety of autumn-hued botanicals, including mums, kale and ornamental grasses, into an outdoor container. Peggy Garvin of Garvin Gardens will provide instruction. Gardening gloves are recommended, but not required. The fee for this class is $20 per person.
"Friendly Gnome Ceramics" is scheduled from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 in Workshop on the first floor of the Central Library in Schaumburg. Participants will dry-brush a friendly-looking gnome holding a sign that reads "welcome, friends." Randy Skepnek will provide instruction. The fee for this class is $15.
"Hand-painted Terra Cotta Planter" is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24 at the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Rd. Instructor Randy Skepnek will guide participants in painting this six-inch wide terra cotta planter, using specially-designed paints, patterns and graphics.
