Donate to WACO's School Supplies & Backpack Drive through Aug. 18

The Woodfield Area Children's Organization is hosting a two-part school supplies drive. From now through Aug. 18, the Schaumburg-based nonprofit is working with the community to collect items for the 2018-19 school year.

Collection boxes are available at the following nine Schaumburg locations: Boomer Stadium, 1999 Springinsguth Road; California Pizza Kitchen, 1550 E. Golf Road; Illinois Institute of Art, 1000 Plaza Drive; Lavelle Law, 1933 N. Meacham Road; state Rep. Michelle Mussman's Office, 15 W. Weathersfield Way; Schaumburg Business Association, 1501 Woodfield Road; Schaumburg Park District Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road; Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way; and Sunstar Americas, 301 E. Central Road.

All school-related items, such as folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, safety scissors, crayons, glue sticks, highlighters, and new/gently used backpacks are welcome.

For those that wish to donate money instead of purchase school supplies, WACO's "Alpaca Backpack, How About You?" program is also underway from now through September.

For $13.50, you can purchase a backpack filled with school supplies that WACO will give to a disadvantaged child in the northwest or western suburbs. Go to www.waco4kids.org/donate.html to help.

For more information contact Linda McGill, WACO director, at (847) 209-5513 or mcgwilinator@aol.com.
