Attend Schaumburg's Free Environmental Fair on May 12

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend the 2018 Environmental Fair that will be held on Saturday, May 12.

The event will take place from noon until 3 p.m. at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. The event is free and open to all ages.

Participants will learn how to join the community in protecting the environment. Tables with information will be available in the lobby and participants can attend a variety of workshops throughout the day.

The event will include presentations about conserving Monarch butterflies and learning more about weather extremes like the microburst that Schaumburg residents experienced last summer. Participants can also take part in workshops that include how to build a Monarch rearing cage or a birdhouse with Eagle Scout candidates. A drawing for a free rain barrel will also be offered at the village's Environmental Committee booth in the lobby of the library.

Community environmental organizations scheduled to participate include: Start Seeing Monarchs (School District 54), North Cook Master Gardeners, Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards, Schaumburg Bicycle Club, Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary & Heritage Farm, Hoffman Estates Garden Club, S.C.A.R.C.E., Schaumburg Community Garden Club, VOS Environmental Committee, The Tomato Lady, Sierra Club, Schaumburg Township District Library, Gifts of the World and the Illinois Solar Energy Association.
