Schaumburg and Roselle Road Intersection Construction Now Underway

The Village of Schaumburg would like to inform the public that construction to install a southbound right turn lane at Roselle and Schaumburg roads is now underway. The project is being led by the Cook County Transportation and Highway Department.

In addition to a new turn lane, the project will also include full traffic signal modernization as well as a few other aesthetic improvements to the intersection. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete in August with sod restoration following in September, pending weather.

The intersection will remain open during construction; however, the project will result in daily lane closures, most of which will take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists are reminded to maintain the posted speed limit and refrain from using cell phones in the work zone. Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional time if traveling in the area.

Work began at the intersection in 2017 as utility providers relocated services in anticipation of construction that would be starting this spring. Total project costs are just under $900,000 for the Cook County Transportation and Highway Department with the village contributing approximately 20 percent of the total.

Continued investment in village infrastructure was one of the priorities defined by participant feedback received in the 2016 National Citizen Survey that was completed by 1,450 randomly mailed recipients in Schaumburg.

The Village of Schaumburg recently approved its Fiscal Year 2018/19 Budget that includes funding for improvements of residential streets at $8 million, major roadways at $13.3 million, and utilities at $9.6 million.
