Fox Valley Orchestra to perform 'Passionate Mystique' Oct. 29
"Passionate Mystique," a classical music concert, will be performed by the Fox Valley Orchestra and Chorus at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Aurora University's Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration, 1347 Prairie St. in Aurora.
Recently appointed Maestro Brian Groner will direct the orchestra. The orchestra will perform "The Walk to the Paradise Garden" by Frederick Delius.
The selection from a little-known opera, "A Village Romeo and Juliet," suggests luxurious images of a peaceful garden setting.
Next chorus master Lisa Fredenburgh will direct the the orchestra and chorus in "An Oxford Elegy" by Vaughn Williams. Aurora resident Richard Westphal, emeritus chair of the Fine Arts Division at Aurora University, will narrate.
The final selection will be "Symphony in D Minor" by Cesar Franck. The piece includes three movements, each using a four-bar, cyclic thematic style.
Single tickets online are $14, $12 for students and seniors, and $9 for children, up to age 8. Single tickets at the door, if available, are $16.50, $14.50 for students and seniors, and $10 for children to age 8.
