I took the train to Chicago to attend the Mexican folkloric at Millennium Park, Wednesday, Aug. 30. It was a beautiful night of lively music, enthusiasm, glorious costumes, and dance. And although I did not understand Spanish, and it was entirely in Spanish, I did got goose bumps when the thousands of people there joined in signing traditional songs with the performers. Also the rendition of our national anthem was perhaps the best I have ever heard. I made this photograph with a Nikon D-90 and a Tamron 16-300 millimeter lens. I had a good seat on the aisle in the first section behind reserved seats, and before I left I was allowed to shoot photos from the west side of the stage. It was a wonderful night. I had fun.

This plant is popularly known as the "golden barrel" cactus, a well known species of cactus in southern Arizona as well as east-central Mexico. I found the best way to accentuate the cactus needles was by zooming in and using photo editing software. The artistic effect I used was able to bring out the exquisite intricacy of nature at work, and added some "pizzazz" as well!

Photograph of the Blue Heron was taken at pond located on Diehl Road in Warrenville, across from the movie theater. "Blu" seemed to relish the attention, posing at least five minutes for the camera.

I took this picture while touring the "picture rocks national seashore" in Upper Michigan. I loved the black and white look of this historic lighthouse.
