Township of Schaumburg's 7th Annual Community Wellness Day Set for Sept. 13th

The Township of Schaumburg is proudly hosting its seventh annual Community Wellness Day on September 13th, 2017 from 2:00-6:00 pm at One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL. Over 30 local vendors have committed to the free event. Wellness Day is sponsored by Township Clerk, Timothy M. Heneghan, the Board of Trustees, and Northwest Community Healthcare.

Free health screenings will be available to attending residents. A1C Glucose screenings will be 12 dollars per person for a 90 day reading and adult vaccinations including pneumonia, tetanus, shingles and flu will be offered at a small cost. Flu vaccinations are free for those with Medicare Part B or 25 dollars without covering insurance. Residents interested in vaccinations should bring their prescription insurance and/or Medicare cards. A full list of vendors can be found on the Township website.

In addition to screenings and vaccinations, the fair will include:

• Raffle prizes and giveaways

• ASL interpreters

• Meet and greet NCH therapy dogs

• Sleep study questionnaire

• Home access solutions featuring a working chair lift

Free health screenings for the following will be available:

• Skin cancer

• Memory

• Bone density

• Senior fit

• Blood pressure

• Spinal health and posture

"Community Wellness Day is a popular event for our residents to become more proactive about their well-being," said Community Nurse Josie Gould, RN, MS. "We hope residents will walk away with a greater awareness of our phenomenal local resources and a better understanding of their health."
