Schaumburg Library Programs Help Job-Seekers
Several programs designed to help job-seekers improve their chances of landing a job are taking place in August at the Schaumburg Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Registration also takes place in person at the Adult Information Desk on the library's second floor.
Professionals from Illinois workNet will offer "Power Employment" from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesdays, Aug. 1 and Sept. 5 in the Rasmussen North Room. They will provide expert guidance on finding a job in today's market, including writing resumes and cover letters, effective interview skills, networking and using social media. What can LinkedIn do to jumpstart a person's career? Find out by attending "LinkedIn 2.0" from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14 in the Rasmussen South Room. Career Coach Lauren Milligan will discuss how LinkedIn is used by employers and recruiters. She will provide valuable tips for making a profile stand out, as well as advice for using LinkedIn's other tools. Participants should bring a laptop, if they have one.
Job-seekers will learn to enhance their chances of acing an interview by attending "Interview Tips" from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 28 in the Rasmussen South Room. Human Resources Specialist Bob Schlacks will discuss the 12 most common interview questions and strategies for impressing a potential employer.
