Help students explore their future at career expo

The Alignment Collaborative Educational Pathways A-Team, in partnership with Elgin Area School District U-46 and its Citizen's Advisory Council, will host "Explore 2017: A U-46 Community, Curriculum & Career Expo" on Saturday, Oct. 14. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive in Elgin.

Participation in this event is essential to help students link their education to the skills necessary for employment and develop a skilled workforce to sustain and attract businesses.

Participating organizations will have the opportunity to showcase its products and services to the community by utilizing interactive hands-on demonstrations and/or engaging displays to attract students' attention, pique their curiosity and to start conversations about a career.

Once their interest is piqued, U-46 counselors and staff will be on hand to assist students in curriculum selection based on their career interests.

To learn more on how you can be part of the expo, attend an informational meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Elgin Community College Room E100.01, 1700 Spartan Drive.

Space is limited so RSVP to register for the meeting at www.align4edu.org/marketing-page.

Those who attend an informational meeting will be given booth preference at the expo.

Two general types of services are needed: those related to demonstrating careers and those related to event operations.
