Chinese Immersion students at Campanelli create artwork for display in governor's Chicago offices
The third, fourth, and fifth grade Chinese Immersion students at Campanelli Elementary School had the honor of creating artwork to be displayed in the governor's offices in the Thompson Center in Chicago. Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti visited Campanelli earlier in the school year and was impressed with the level of Chinese spoken and written during her visit. While visiting, she asked students to create artwork to be hung in the governor's downtown Chicago office. With the help of their teachers and Allison Cummings, Campanelli's art teacher, the students learned about the art, history and Chinese culture while creating the beautiful art pieces. Lieutenant Governor Sanguinetti sent a video thanking the students and hopes to thank them in person in the future.
