Attend Schaumburg's Free Environmental Fair on May 20

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend its Environmental Fair that will be held on Saturday, May 20.

The event will take place from noon until 3 p.m. at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. The event is free and open to all ages.

Participants will learn how to join the community in protecting the environment. Tables with information will be available in the lobby and participants can attend a variety of workshops throughout the day.

This year's topics include:

• Backyard Birds and Bird Feeding

• Clouds, Thunderstorms and Tornadoes - Oh My!

• Attracting Pollinators with Native Plants

• Build a Bird Feeder Workshop

Community environmental organizations scheduled to participate include: Spring Valley Nature Center and Heritage Farm, Sierra Club, North Cook Master Gardeners, Hoffman Estates Garden Club, Recycling Avenue, Gifts of the World, Illinois Solar Energy Association and SCARCE.

Participants can also stop by Schaumburg's Environmental Committee booth and pick up a free Oak tree sapling provided by the "Restore the Canopy" program through the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. Quantities are limited and you must be a Cook County resident.

The Environmental Fair is co-sponsored by the Village of Schaumburg's Environmental Committee and the Schaumburg Township District Library.
