Invitation to Multiple Choice Membership Celebration April 19

Multiple Choice Mothers of Multiples Club will be hosting a Membership Celebration on Wednesday, April 19 at 7 pm at the newly renovated Bowlero in Buffalo Grove. This free event is open to any mother of multiples in the northwest suburbs. It's an opportunity to meet members of the group, learn about our monthly meetings, social events and seasonal clothing sales.

"The first thing you hear from the doctor is, 'Congratulations, you're pregnant! The next thing you hear is, 'There's more than one baby.' The third thing you hear is, 'Oh ****, now what?!', coming from your mouth.", says Multiple Choice President Barb Antonoff. Multiple births happen often these days and moms in this situation are looking for other moms to connect with and share their experiences. According to the Multiples of America website, "The rise in multiple birth rates has been associated with expanded use of fertility therapies such as ovulation-inducing drugs and assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Older maternal age at childbearing also contributes to more multiples births because of elevated FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) as women age." According to the CDC, the mean age of a mother at first birth was 26.4 years in 2015 whereas in 1970, the mean age was only 21.4 years old.

With more multiple births and the challenges that they present, April has been designated Multiple Birth Awareness month. It's the time to celebrate the joys of parenting multiples as well as a time to educate schools, communities and friends about the unique challenges of parenting twins, triplets and more. Multiple Choice has chosen the month of April to host an annual Membership Celebration to bring awareness to this local club that serves the northwest suburbs.
