District 54 appoints principal, instructional technology coordinator
The District 54 School Board made two appointments at its meeting on March 2 for positions in the 2017-18 school year.
Tom Barbini - Keller Principal
Tom Barbini will become the new principal at Keller Junior High School in Schaumburg, replacing Heather Wilson who will be the principal at Eisenhower Junior High School. Current Eisenhower principal Steve Kern will move to the principal position at Churchill Elementary School, replacing Lisa Hopkins who is taking a new role as a special education director for District 54.
Barbini is currently the assistant principal at Addams Junior High in District 54. Previously he was the assistant principal at Frost Junior High School. He was originally hired by District 54 in 2005 as a mathematics teacher at Mead Junior High School, where he also served as Mathematics Department Chair.
"I am extremely grateful for all of the support and opportunities that District 54 has provided me throughout my career," Barbini said. "I am looking forward to being a part of the Keller community, and excited to work with and learn from the staff and students."
Barbini has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and a master's degree in school leadership from Concordia University.
Habib Behrouzi - Instructional Technology Coordinator
Habib Behrouzi will become the instructional technology coordinator for District 54. In this position, Behrouzi will support District 54 staff in their use of technology for instruction.
Behrouzi currently works as an instructional coach for technology for District 54. Behrouzi was originally hired by District 54 in 2005 as an instructional assistant at Frost Junior High, where he subsequently served as a learning resource assistant and as an art/media teacher.
"My journey in District 54 has been incredibly meaningful and impactful thanks to everyone I have worked with and the community we serve," Behrouzi said. "I am very excited to continue my growth here in my new role and to help contribute to the ongoing success of the district and its students."
Behrouzi has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northeastern Illinois University and a master's degree in school leadership from Concordia University.
These appointments take effect July 1, 2017.
