Preschoolers collect thousands of books for at-risk children in Chicago

From Dec. 1 to Jan. 23, The Goddard School preschools located in the greater Chicago area kicked off their fourth annual charity book drive with the goal of collecting more than 25,000 books for Bernie's Book Bank, the largest provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicago area.

To date, The Goddard School has donated more than 100,000 books to Bernie's Book Bank, highlighting that access to age-appropriate books is essential for developing language and reading skills.

On Jan. 25, The Goddard School brought together the community and preschoolers for the final count with the donation exceeding 26,000.

School owners, children and volunteers stickered, sorted and counted thousands of books.

With this donation from The Goddard School, Bernie's Book Bank is able to make book ownership a reality for many more children in need in the area.
