Girls volleyball: Hooker, Fremd top Buffalo Grove in three sets
Senior outside hitter Bailey Hooker put down 7 kills to lead Fremd to a 25-17, 17-25, 25-15 Mid-Suburban League girls volleyball crossover win on Tuesday night in Palatine.
Sara Ganas added 4 kills for the Vikings who climbed back above .500 at 4-3.
Nadia Tarasova, Marianna Galati, Sarah Rozhko, Kelly Kalyviaris and Kim Barton each had 2 kills for the Bison (2-8) who also received 6 assists from Maggie Streckert and 4 from Hannah Schuler.
Prospect d. Schaumburg: Visiting Prospect (3-1) rallied for a 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 victory in the MSL crossover.
Maggie Porwit put down 13 kills to lead the Knights' attack followed by Kaeli Myers (8), Mary Mazurek (4) and Mandy Withey (4).
Valerie Thomas collected 25 digs while Paige Gerber handed out 28 assists. Kendra Gancarz served 3 aces. Meghan Meredith had 2 and Porwit 1.
Julia Spitelli (6 kills), Jordyn Harberts (4) and Tamaia Mallett (2) led the attack for Schaumburg (3-3) which received 19 assists from junior Gabby Paelmo and 9 from Michaela Encarnacion. Paelmo also had 30 digs and Encarnacion 12.
Conant d. Wheeling: Ania Baker, Jorie Wachal and Ally Peacock each had 4 kills for host Conant (4-4) in a 29-27, 22-25, 25-22 MSL crossover triumph. Kristina Loznjakovic handed out 11 assists with 2 kills for the Cougars while Baker and Wachal each recorded blocks.
Timber Terrell put down 20 kills for Wheeling (6-7) followed by Kamila Staniszewski (7), Amanda Prause (5), Rochelle Laude (5) and Melissa Claver (4).
Jazmyn Veloso collected 21 digs while Shannon Kennedy had 16 and Hala Fakhoury 14. Jessica Janowski handed out 37 assists.
Elk Grove d. Hoffman Estates: Rachel Kandefer (5 kills, 3 blocks), Jenny Banak (17 digs), Isabel Michniak (5 kills), Holly Olson (3 kills), Lexi Chirbas (10 assists) and Mary Cronin (8 assists) helped lead visiting Elk Grove (2-5) to a 25-23, 25-18 MSL crossover win.
Hoffman (was led by Janiah Fowler, Jessica Jurezicz, Monraia Wilson and Natalie Pethes who each had 2 kill. Freshman Ashley Poland had 14 digs.
Rolling Meadows d. Barrington: Krya Amundson and Maddie Sellergren each had 4 kills to lead Rolling Meadows' attack in a 28-26, 25-21 MSL crossover win.
Natalie Klancnik (10 assists) and Mallory King (6) set the Mustangs attack while Madeline Rebsamen led the back row with 12 digs followed by Sellergren (10) and Paige Connor (10).
Joliet Catholic D. St. Viator: Joliet Catholic posted a 25-21, 25-12 East Suburban Catholic Conference victory over the visiting Lions (1-8), who were led on attack by Catherine Hickey (6 kills) and Kendall Claffey (4).
Rina Rodriguez served 3 aces while Michaele Mueller handed out 12 assists. Carrie Leazer had 8 digs.
