March Meeting of the Des Plaines Art Guild
Pastel painter Brian Sauerland will do a demonstration for members and guests at the next general meeting of the Des Plaines Art Guild (dpag.org) on Tuesday, March 8th at 7 pm at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker Street in Des Plaines.
Brian has been fascinated with light on form ever since he began working with pastels while attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He concentrates on landscapes, as well as still life and portraits. Brian strives to bring out the beauty found in things seen in everyday life, whether it's a piece of fruit nestled in a basket or a sunset casting a long shadow of a tree across the snow. He sees his artwork as snapshots of life and hopes to connect with viewers who may share his admiration.
His work has won numerous awards on both the local and national levels and has appeared in the Pastel Journal 100 competition four times, being given a Bronze Award and featured article. His work has been published twice in the Best of America Pastel Artists and Artisans. He is currently represented by Proud Fox Gallery in Geneva, IL and Petter Art Gallery in Douglas, MI. Brian recently received his Master status in the Chicago Pastel Painters and he resides in Palatine, IL with his wife and two children.
The public is welcome to attend the Des Plaines Art Guild's meeting. There is no fee, but donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be served. To join the guild, download a membership form at dpag.org.
