Report: Patrick Kane grand jury postponed

The Buffalo News is reporting a grand jury investigation into sex assault allegations against Blackhawks star Patrick Kane set to begin Tuesday afternoon has been abruptly postponed, according to three current and former law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case.

The Buffalo News last week confirmed that summonses had been issued by the Erie County District Attorney's Office to individuals directing them to appear before the grand jury, with the first witness set for 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Kane has been accused by a young woman of sexually assaulting her in his Hamburg mansion after meeting her at a downtown bar early last month. Kane has not been charged.

Kane's agent broke his silence Tuesday.

“It's under investigation,” Pat Brisson told Sportsnet. “Patrick's always been honest with me, and I do believe what he tells me … I believe he's innocent in this whole thing. But we got to follow the law, follow what's going on. The hardest part is to see people jump to conclusions that he's done this, he's done that. It's been what, a month now, five weeks and I can't wait for him to get back on track with his life. So on a day-to-day basis, we talk, and obviously I follow the advice of the legal counsel and we have to follow that guideline. We'll see where it's going to take him. Hopefully soon we'll have a conclusion to this whole thing.”
