Chicago Blackhawks' Patrick Kane meets with investigators

Investigators have met with Patrick Kane as part of their investigation into a sexual assault accusation against the Blackhawks all-star, two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation have told The Buffalo News.

One source said an investigator with the Erie County District Attorney's office met with Kane, and a second source said an investigator with the DA's office and a detective with the Hamburg Police Department met with the hockey player. Both said the meeting occurred in the presence of Kane's attorney. One source said it took place at the office of Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria.

Cambria declined to comment.

The Kane case is considered a joint investigation by the Erie County District Attorney's office and the Hamburg Police Department. The law enforcement sources also said the Hamburg department, after searching Kane's house on Old Lake Shore Road the day the accusation was made, requested assistance from DA investigators because of the high-profile nature of the case and the sensitivity of the allegations.

The district attorney's office employs 16 investigators, according to the Law Enforcement Foundation of Western New York. The Town of Hamburg's website lists seven detectives and one sergeant detective on its police force.

A woman has accused Kane of sexual assault in his home in New York State in the early hours of Aug. 2.

Kane, 26, has not been charged, and neither Kane nor his attorney has publicly addressed the accusations.
