Car strikes home in Elgin, police find no driver

A car struck an Elgin home yesterday, but authorities could not find its driver, officials said. Around 5:53 p.m., police and fire officials responded to the intersection of Locust Street and Crystal Avenue for an accident where a car crashed into a house, according to a news release. Full story.

Trial begins for driver in fatal Lisle crash

The crash that killed a Naperville woman who was crossing the street in July 2011 was unavoidable, said the attorney for a Lisle man charged with aggravated driving under the influence. The bench trial began yesterday for James D. Kisla, 55, who faces charges connected to the crash that occurred just moments after Lisle's annual Eyes to the Skies fireworks show ended on July 3, 2011. Full story.

DuPage Water Commission turnaround: It's cutting water rates about 2%

The cost of water is dropping for most DuPage County towns for the first time since the agency that supplies Lake Michigan water was rocked by a financial scandal more than five years ago. The DuPage Water Commission has cut rates by about 2 percent as part of the agency's roughly $123 million budget for the fiscal year that starts May 1. Full story.

Buffalo Grove approves medical marijuana dispensary

Buffalo Grove officials cleared the way for a medical marijuana dispensary to open in the village this fall. Village trustees approved a special use permit allowing PDI Medical III LLC to operate in a 3,250-square-foot space at 1623 Barclay Blvd., in the Rogers Centre for Commerce East, just east of Milwaukee Avenue.
