Lemon bars put Prospect Heights cook in finals

Coconutty lemon bars won Best in Show at the Daily Herald's Home Baking Challenge on Thursday night and earned Prospect Heights baker Laura Hill a spot in the finals at America's Baking and Sweet Show in Schaumburg later this month.

Hill was among the 20 bakers selected as semifinalists in the paper's second annual baking contest. Ten winners in each of 10 categories will represent the suburbs at the national baking show Nov. 14 to 16 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.

The complete list of winners will be revealed Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Food section.
