Crystal Lake mayor rings in new school year

Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley walked a few short blocks to Husmann Elementary in Crystal Lake on Monday to welcome students back to school.

During a brief speech followed by a ringing of the bell, the mayor mentioned to students that he, too, attended Husmann Elementary as did his daughters, Madison and Chase.

Husmann is one of nine K-5 schools in Crystal Lake Elementary District 47.

Its location (McHenry Avenue between Franklin and Paddock Streets) has been home to a school for more than 100 years, so its history, beauty and integrity are celebrated in keeping with this centennial year for Crystal Lake.
