Felix and Fingers to entertain at Crystal Lake centennial event

Crystal Lake - The Crystal Lake Centennial Committee is excited to announce that Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos will be the featured entertainer at the Crystal Lake Centennial Closing Event on Sunday, Sept. 14. The closing event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. in downtown Crystal Lake.

Felix and Fingers will be playing on stage in front of the Raue Center for the Arts from 3:30 to 5 p.m., which will cap a fun-filled day celebrating the city's centennial year.

Felix and Fingers began when Dave Radford and Mike Potts came together for the first time in 2010 at a Chicago fundraiser for respiratory health. Dave had recently garnered himself a Top 10 Male Finalist position on "American Idol." Meanwhile, Mike had spent the last few years touring the world as a professional musician on cruise ships. Now, both back in the Chicago suburbs, the timing was right to introduce Chicago and the Midwest to their own unique take on Dueling Pianos.

They began strictly as a jazz duo, but as their experience playing together grew, so did the performance opportunities. It wasn't long before a club owner in Crystal Lake approached them to perform a dueling pianos show. Following their first show, they were immediately hooked. Currently, Felix and Fingers is one of the busiest bands in the Midwest and they are booking events over a year in advance to locations as far as South Dakota and New Jersey. The Crystal Lake Centennial Closing event on Sept. 14 will feature an afternoon of free fun and entertainment for the whole family. The celebration will take place in downtown Crystal Lake between 1 and 5 p.m. The day will include family entertainment, juggling, face painting, a bean-bag tournament, presentations on Crystal Lake's history, and more!

The city of Crystal Lake is celebrating its centennial year in 2014. This yearlong celebration commemorates the incorporation of the city of Crystal Lake after the villages of Nunda and Crystal Lake voted to consolidate. The centennial celebration kicked off in September 2013 with the phenomenally successful kick off festival at Three Oaks Recreation Area. The Centennial Celebration has continued with the Historic Speaker Series, the 100 for 100 Blood Drive, and the Propelling into the Future paddle scavenger hunt. The Centennial Closing Event will be the final signature event celebrating the city's centennial. For more information on the city's centennial celebration, visit www.crystallake100.net.
