Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club to host Annual Glen Ellyn Garden Walk

Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club is proud to announce the gardens participating in the 2014 Glen Ellyn Garden Walk. Tickets are now on sale for the 12th annual Glen Ellyn Garden to be held on Saturday, June 21st, from 10 am to 4 pm.

The 2014 Glen Ellyn Garden Walk features six private gardens, plus a bonus GEPD Lake Foxcroft Sustainable Garden. The gardens featured this year are 'gardeners gardens' meaning primarily maintained by the homeowners themselves. You will be delighted by a variety of garden features each garden provides, including a low-maintenance, eco-friendly yard that has been transformed to house plants native to IL, a peaceful tranquility garden featuring a magnificent pond with a waterfall. There also a Hosta garden boasting over 140 different varieties, a shade garden that hosts several 'rooms,' including woodland and butterfly gardens, as well a luxurious back yard retreat.

New this year is a featured woodland estate measuring nearly 100 x 400 deep (as large as most village blocks) that will host a sophisticated French Market with local artisans and vendors participating. And, if time allows, we have added a seventh BONUS garden at GEPD Lake Foxcroft, which is a sustainable garden planned, designed and planted by Mr. Roy Diblik, famous for many high profile gardens, including spaces at the Chicago Art Institute and the Shedd Aquarium.

Master Gardeners from University of Illinois DuPage County Extension will be available at select gardens to speak on gardening topics and to answer gardening questions.

Tickets are $25 through June 19th and $30 beginning June 20th. Children's tickets are offered to children 12 years and younger at a reduced cost of $15. Tickets can be purchased at

Don't think you have time to attend the Glen Ellyn Garden Walk this Saturday? The Garden Walk runs 10:00 AM through 4:00 PM and was designed to accommodate a multitude of schedules. Gardens need not be seen in any particular order or in any set timeframe. Attendees are encouraged to begin the walk at their leisure, break to attend a child's sporting event or practice and then pick up again afterwards, take a break to visit downtown Glen Ellyn for a little shopping or to catch lunch. Visit only 3 gardens, 4 gardens, or all the gardens, including the seventh bonus garden at Lake Foxcroft. The Garden Walk tour was created to please the garden enthusiasts interested in attending the entire event as well as the busy adult juggling multiple commitments each weekend.
