Schaumburg Township holds annual holiday parties
Schaumburg Township hosted its two annual holiday parties in early December. This year’s Senior and Disability Holiday Party was held at Chandler’s Chophouse in Schaumburg on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The party was sponsored by Home Instead, and the Illinois Communications Access Corporation (ITAC).
Over 200 guests were treated to a formal lunch followed by a performance of holiday tunes by the Schaumburg High School Choraliers. Adding to the fun and excitement, several guests won a raffle prize donated by local businesses.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Disability Services department hosted its annual holiday party for children with disabilities and their families. This year’s holiday party was sponsored by several local businesses including Bolger Commercial Properties, Village Tavern & Grill, B&A Plumbing, Carpenters Union Local 839, Sunshine Gutter Co., and The Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club. With the help of many volunteers, the party began with everyone enjoying a catered lunch of chicken fingers and mostaccioli, donated by Village Tavern and Grill and a delicious chicken entree donated by Pilot Pete’s. After lunch guests enjoyed frozen custards donated by Barry Himmelfarb from Culver’s.
Children were entertained by “Coop” the mascot from the Schaumburg Boomers baseball team and a live demo performance by National Karate before a special performance from “Those Funny Little People.” Following the performances, Santa Claus arrived and greeted families before personally handing out gifts to each child. Before the party was over, each family won a raffle prize donated by local businesses.
A special thank you to JR Hutson from Village Tavern and Grill and John Minginas from Pilot Pete’s for their generous contributions and support to this year’s Children with Disabilities Holiday Party. Thank you to the volunteers and the many individuals who contributed their time, and the businesses and organizations for their financial support, which made this event a great success. The township has been hosting these annual holiday parties for nearly three decades, all completely funded by donations.
