November 'Images' Highlights Seaton Center Renovation, Culinary Olympics Tryouts

“Images,” College of DuPage's monthly one-half hour television show, features in its November edition segments on the College's renovated Seaton Computing Center and recent tryouts for the Culinary Olympic team held at the Glen Ellyn campus.

Each month, Images highlights the personalities, news and curriculum of a vibrant College of DuPage campus. The show airs on 13 area cable television stations.

The November show highlights the recent ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Seaton Computing Center. The SCC, originally opened in 1990, is named in honor of the College's first Board of Trustees Chairman, George Seaton. The 18,500 square-foot center has undergone a complete interior and exterior renovation, with learning spaces that support cutting-edge and highly specialized computer applications – a visual and simulation lab, networking hardware labs, a server/networking lab, software/web development labs, high-tech classrooms and end-user labs. These spaces are being used by the Computer and Internetworking Technologies, Computer Information Systems, and Office Technology Information programs.

This month's show also features a segment on the recent tryouts for the Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung (IKA) International Culinary Exhibition, otherwise referred to in the industry as the “Culinary Olympics.” Held at COD's Culinary & Hospitality Center, several College of DuPage students assisted chefs vying for the opportunity to represent the U.S. at this international competition. The College will host monthly training sessions leading up to the 2016 IKA.

The November show also features a segment on the third annual Laps With the Chaps 5K. Nearly 350 registrations and corporate sponsors participated in the event, which traversed the entire main campus, starting and ending on the track surrounding the football field.

Also featured is “In the Kitchen with Chris,” with Culinary Professor Chris Thielman. This month, Thielman shares step-by-step instructions on preparing crème brulee.

Images airs at various times on cable television stations in Downers Grove, Wheaton, Addison, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Glendale Heights, Bartlett, Lemont, Elk Grove, Darien, Aurora and West Chicago. Check local cable listings for times and channels.
