Senior Star at Weber Place Memory Care Community Grand Reopening

ROMEOVILLE, IL (November 4, 2013) – Senior Star at Weber Place will host the grand reopening of its memory care community on Tuesday, November 12 at 605 South Edward Drive in Romeoville from Noon to 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in the celebration and tour the community. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.

A highlight of the day will be the opportunity to tour the new Destination Programming™, a Senior Star trademarked program that uses innovative activity stations to care for residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Located throughout the Senior Star community, each station is designed to depict specific destinations that are vocational, social or spiritual in nature, and have been created to provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment by engaging residents in significant experiences of their past. Destination Programming™ is dedicated to:

**Encouraging purposeful moments

**Enhancing social interactions and providing cognitive stimulation

**Improving positive emotions and behavior

**Providing peace, comfort and a strong sense of self-esteem

With more than 25 new Destination Stations®, staff members who provide memory care at Senior Star remain committed to offering top quality, innovative and best practice programs – a tribute to the entire organization's recognition by the National Alzheimer's Association for its advocacy. A celebration and grand reopening commemorates this milestone for Senior Star.

Senior Star has devoted the past several months to redesigning these unique areas, which have been artfully crafted and feature hands-on activities designed to engage residents where they are at any given point in time. This helps create a world with which they are familiar – the world as they now see it due to the loss of their short-term memory. By creating these special places, residents are able to feel a sense of peace, comfort and security which reduces the feeling of disorientation and loss.

Community members are encouraged to tour these Destination Stations®. This special visit will help loved ones of those suffering from Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia gain a better understanding of new and innovative ways to care for individuals with the disease by engaging them in meaningful activities. The tour is family friendly and will create important discussions on positive trends in the treatment of individuals who suffer from dementia.

An RSVP is requested on or before November 8 by calling 815-439-2033.
