The Fullersburg Historic Foundation presents “First Families of Old Fullersburg” Sunday, October 13th

The Fullersburg Historic Foundation will present a Living History Series program, “First Families of Old Fullersburg” featuring speaker Sandra Brubaker, former Executive Director of the Graue Mill and Museum, on Sunday, October 13, 2013, 2:00 pm at the Oak Brook Public Library, 600 Oak Brook Rd.

The two family names most familiar to visitors to present-day Fullersburg are Fuller and Graue. Benjamin Fuller was one of the first settlers to arrive and platted the town of Fullersburg in 1851. Frederick Graue constructed the grist mill in 1852 which still stands today on Salt Creek.

Find out what other families made the trek westward to create a better life for themselves and their children in the Illinois territory just opened for settlement in 1833. Learn about their contributions to the history and growth of the area.

Join Sandy as she shares stories about the early settlers and prominent citizens of Fullersburg. Sandy will paint a picture of life as it changed from Native American encampments to pioneer farms to the bustling town of Fullersburg.
