Dist. 211 receives $40,000 grant from Motorola
Palatine Schaumburg High School District 211 has been awarded a $40,000 grant that will support three new courses in the applied technology department, the district announced Tuesday.
The grant comes from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, a charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. It is part of the foundation’s Innovation Generation grant program, with a focus on advanced manufacturing, computer integrated manufacturing and biomedical engineering.
More than 200 students are expected to benefit from the grant, which will aim to get students interested in manufacturing and engineering, according to the district.
The courses the grant will support include Advanced Manufacturing Technology Level 1, Project Lead the Way Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Project Lead the Way Biotechnical Engineering. Along with grant funding, the district will receive ongoing support from Motorola Solutions employees who will volunteer to work with students as mentors, tutors and experts in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers.
