Caramel Brownies
2/3 cup evaporated milk (from a 12-ouce can), divided
1 package (14 ounces) caramels
1 box (about 18 ounces) German chocolate, Swiss chocolate or devil’s-food cake mix
1 stick (8 tablespoons) margarine, melted
12 ounces chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
In a sauce pan over medium-low heat, stir 1/3 cup evaporated milk and caramels until melted; set aside.
In a large bowl mix together cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and melted margarine.
Press half the cake mixture into a 9-by-13-inch pan and bake 6 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately pour 1 cup chocolate chips over baked batter and pour caramel mixture over chips. Crumble (in blobs) rest of cake batter over caramel and bake 15-18 minutes more.
Serves 24.
