New gym for Prairie School in Naperville

Prairie Elementary School will be getting a new gym under a $1.75 million contract approved Monday by the Naperville Unit District 203 school board.

Prairie, at 500 South Charles Ave., has one of the smallest gyms in the district and the space also is used as a lunchroom. The new gym will provide more capacity for school activities and evening events, and it will allow the current gym to function solely as a lunchroom.

Mack Construction Corporation of Tinley Park will build the addition, which is included in the district’s 2007 facility master plan.
