Celebrate the solstice with wine benefit for Schaumburg Park Dist. Foundation

Wineries, breweries and food vendors will once again fill Spring Valley Nature Center in honor of the summer solstice. Schaumburg Park Foundation’s Solstice Hop and Vine Fest will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

“The evening features the area’s finest wines and brews on the prairie and supports the Schaumburg Park Foundation,” said Foundation Executive Vice President Pat Casler.

Solstice Hop and Vine Fest will feature live music by “Together Again” and Folk-Americana musician Jesse Fox, nature walks among the fireflies and food from Whole Foods Market Schaumburg, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar, Chandler’s Chophouse, The Melting Pot, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Moretti’s Ristorante and Pizzeria, and Riccardo’s Ristorante. Wineries and breweries will have sample tastings and sell bottles of sampled wines. Nonalcoholic beverages and tasting-plate snacks will be available. All guests receive a commemorative wineglass.

Participating wineries and breweries led by home winery Lynfred Winery include Acquaviva Winery; Church Street, Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurants; Fox Valley Winery, Inc.; Hailey’s Winery, Ltd.; The Lucky Monk Burger, Pizza and Beer Co.; Ram Restaurant and Brewery; Village Vintner Winery; and Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery.

“Since the inaugural year, the event has grown tremendously and been a great success,” Casler said.

Ticket sales are limited. Admission is $25 and includes 10 tastings. Tickets are available for sale at Spring Valley Nature Center, the Jerry Handlon Administration Building, 235 E. Beech Drive; and online at schaumburgparkfoundation.org. Online ticket sales end at noon, June 21. In-person ticket sales end at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Spring Valley Nature Center. Guests must be 21 to attend. A valid ID is required.

Free parking will be available at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road. A convenient shuttle will provide free transportation to the Fest. The Schaumburg Park Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
