Cast a line with dad at Schaumburg’s Father’s Day Weekend Fishing Derby

Cast a line with your dad and grandpa Father’s Day weekend!

Fish, food and fun are promised at the Schaumburg Park District’s annual Father’s Day Weekend Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road. Fishers are divided into age groups of 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-17 and a father’s group. Prizes will be awarded for shortest fish, longest fish, most fish caught and most unique catch in each age group.

“We’re looking forward to seeing a great turnout at the event.” says Jen Gorczyca, aquatics supervisor for the district. “It will be a beautiful day with lots of smiling faces having fun.”

Participants receive a hot dog, chips and soda. Fishers must bring their own poles and bait.

Preregistration ends at 5 p.m. Friday, June 14. The preregistration fee is $8 for residents and $12 for nonresidents. Day-of registration is $10 for residents and $14 for nonresidents.
